Wells CabinWalk through a piece of Florida's History.

The Wells Cabin restoration project began in 1999. Time and weather wereCabin photo beginning to take its tole on this little house so many families have called home. After clearing the area around the site work began on the structure itself. A nearby log corn crib was also disassembled and rebuilt on the site. The corn crib had been orininally built by Kirby Wells, grandson of Alex Wells. In 2006 Jerry Gullo donated his grandfather's old blacksmith shop to the project. Wood from an old barn originally built by Alex's son Bradford Wells, was used to build the shop... Many hours of work have gone into this project and many people have played a part in saving this small piece of Florida's history. Cabin photoIt is a reminder of a simplertime when families worked hard at just surviving, a time and way of life we should not forget. In order to truely appreciate how far we have come, we must remember the sacrifices that have been made in the past.

The McCulley family would like to thank the following for their help in making this project a reality. The Florida Division of Forestry, Twin Rivers State Forest, Tim Trott at flahorse.com, Mainstreet Hamilton County, Jane Harris, Bob Keeling, Jerry Gullo, Mickey King family, the Wells family, the Waters family, all the other friends and family and especially all the trail riders that have traveled from near and far to share in our areas history and natural beauty...May God bless each and everyone of you.
