Wells Family
Reunion
|
The
Wells Cabin restoration project began in 1999. Time and weather
were beginning to take its tole on this little house so many families
have called home. After clearing the area around the site work began
on the structure itself. A nearby log corn crib was also disassembled
and rebuilt on the site. Many hours of work have gone into this
project and many people have played a part in saving this small
piece of Florida's history. It
is a reminder of a simplertime when families worked hard at just
surviving, a time and way of life we should not forget. In order
to truely appreciate how far we have come, we must remember the
sacrifices that have been made in the past.
The McCulley family would like to thank the following people for
their help in making this a reality: The Florida Division of Forestry,
the Wells family, The Waters family, Jane Harris, Bob Keeling, Mainstreet
Hamilton County, Robert "Mickey" King family, flahorse.com,
all the friends and family, and especially all the trail riders
that have traveled from near and far to share in our areas history
and nature. May God bless each and everyone of you.
